Elementary and secondary school students from the Rainbow District School Board will be at Cambrian College for the local skills competition, Wednesday February 27.
High school students will be competing in a number of events, including welding, auto-service technology, electrical, small powered equipment, auto computer aided design (CAD), photography and TV/video editing. Carpentry events will be held at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Local 2486 in Azilda.
Grade 8 students will be at Cambrian to explore the skilled trades and experiential learning opportunities. There will also be a robotics demonstration from the Lasalle Secondary School Robotics team.
Winners of the local competition will be part of Team Sudbury taking part at the Ontario Skills Competition, May 7-8 in Toronto. Team Sudbury is made up of students and teachers from Cambrian College, the Rainbow District School Board, and the Sudbury Catholic District School Board.
