The Silver Birch String Quartet, one of Canada's most exciting and innovative young quartets, will welcome Cambrian College professors Dr. Matthew Gould (guitar) and Beth Ilana Schneider-Gould (violin), also known as Duo46, for a concert that will create a musical portrait of modern America.

Concert pieces will include the String Quartet #5 by one of the most famous living composers Philip Glass (best known for film score for the movie The Hours); the beautiful and haunting Snapshot Circa 1909 by the Grammy-winning composer John Corigliano (best known as the composer for the film The Red Violin); and the miniature Wed for String Quartet by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang. Dr. Gould will provide a rare Canadian performance of the Latin-flavoured Bay of Pigs by Michael Daugherty for string quartet and guitar.

Sudbury music enthusiasts will not want to miss this exciting collaboration between some of the city’s finest classical musicians. Tickets are available at Black Cat on Durham Street and at the door. General Admission is $20 and $15 for students and seniors.
