Attention: Police Foundations Students Undergo Official Inspection

Posted on Friday February 21, 2014
Dan Markiewich, Acting Chief of Police in Greater Sudbury, inspected Tuesday about 70 students from the College’s Police Foundations and Law and Security Administration diploma programs.

SUDBURY – After weeks of drill practice, students in Cambrian College’s Police Foundations program are ready to present themselves to Acting Chief of Police Dan Markiewich for their first official inspection. Cambrian faculty and staff will also be on hand to observe the synchronized drill routine of a team of students who are aiming at a career in policing.

Police Foundations professor Ernie Walchuk says it takes a tremendous amount of discipline, commitment and teamwork to achieve a perfect drill.

“But the students see the value of this exercise, since you have to be able to work as a team if you want to be a successful police officer,” Walchuk adds.

The media are invited to cover the event.
