Set in the Weimar Republic era in pre-war Berlin, against the Nazi rise to power, Cabaret tells the story of a young American writer and his shenanigans while becoming enchanted by the Kit Kat Club and one of its performers, Sally Bowles. The film version was a multi-award winner, taking home trophies from the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs and others.
Based on the book by Joe Masteroff, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, Cabaret is co-produced by Cambrian College’s Technical Theatre Program, in conjunction with Thorneloe University’s Department of Theatre Arts. It is the first musical to be presented in more than ten years at Thorneloe University. Pandora Topp, a local chanteuse and performer, headlines the show, which also features Thorneloe theatre students.
