SUDBURY – Students in Cambrian College’s Dental Hygiene and Assisting programs are raising money and awareness, as part of National Oral Health Month and National Dental Hygienists Week, with their annual Walk for a Smile event.
The student-led campaign will raise funds for the Sudbury Corner Clinic, Maison Vale Hospice, the Cambrian College Student Food Bank and the Dental Hygiene program’s mission trip to Costa Rica, which takes place in 2015.
“It brings students together for worthy causes and promotes the importance of oral health to the general public,” says Rachel Leon, a third-year Dental Hygiene student. “Students will have a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction by participating in this annual event, which gives back to the community and promotes their profession. This is something the College encourages.”
Walkers will leave from the front entrance of the College to complete a 5 km loop through New Sudbury. Passers-by will easily recognize them in their colourful t-shirts.
When: Friday, April 4, 2014 from 4-6 p.m.
Where: Walkers set out from Cambrian College and walk 5 km
