SUDBURY – During Cambrian College’s 46th convocation ceremonies, which took place May 28-30, three graduates were honoured for their academic excellence and contributions to the Cambrian community.
The President’s Gold and Silver Medals
The President’s Gold and Silver Medals are awarded annually to two graduating students who have combined academic excellence and technical ability with a significant contribution to College life. The Gold Medal is accompanied by a scholarship valued at $2,000 and the Silver Medal by a scholarship valued at $1,500.
Gold Medal Winner: Mallory Gunn
Mallory Gunn is a graduate from the Business Accounting program who maintained an outstanding 4.0 GPA during her three years in the program, while devoting countless hours to the betterment of the College and the community. An enthusiastic ambassador for Cambrian, Gunn participated in many student life and marketing activities, and organized and supported numerous events.
Silver Medal Winner: Jordan Crighton
Jordan Crighton is a graduate of the Community and Justice Services program, and an outstanding leader with a passion to make a difference in all he does. As President of the Criminal Justice Association, Crighton oversaw a membership of more than 125 students and accrued more than 500 hours of volunteer service at campus and community events.
Paul Ricker receives Governor General’s Academic Medal
The Governor General’s Academic Medal is awarded each year to the graduating student with the highest average. Paul Ricker is being recognized for the second time in two consecutive years for his outstanding academic accomplishments. Last year he achieved a 97 percent average in the Mining Engineering Technician program, and this year, he is graduating from the Mining Engineering Technology program with a 96.93 percent average.
