SUDBURY – There will be tears and good-byes, and hopeful hellos, as nearly 700 students move into their new homes away from home on Saturday, August 30 for the 2014-15 school year. As parents bid adieu to their kids and prepare for the childless drive home, students will settle in, meet their roommates and neighbours, and explore the campus.
“It’s an exciting milestone for students,” says Madeleine Simard, Residence Life Coordinator. “It can be a stressful time for them and their parents. Often, it’s the student’s first time living away from home and there’s potential for separation anxiety, but we’ve organized a number of activities to help them ease into life on campus and to ensure that their start at Cambrian is positive and supportive.”
Move-in day is part of Cambrian’s orientation week. It takes place on Saturday, August 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the media is invited to cover the event (we suggest you park in lot 10 at the end of Lamothe Street). There are sure to be heart-warming stories and poignant photo ops throughout the day.
