Aboriginal fashion show empowers students

Posted on Monday March 9, 2015

SUDBURY – Cambrian College’s Wabnode Centre for Aboriginal Services is pleased to present its first annual Aboriginal Fashion Show.

Local Aboriginal designers Swirling Wind Designs, Bruno Henry Clothing Design and Ondarez Clothing will be featured, with the clothes modelled by more than 10 Cambrian students. There will also be a few surprises.

“This is part of (Wabnode’s) identity and empowerment campaign,” says Rosalie Henderson, Wabnode’s Student Support Advisor and organizer of the fashion show. “Helping plan and being in the show will help increase their confidence and gain leadership and event planning skills, while embracing their culture.”

The fashion show takes place March 10 in Cambrian’s Student Life Centre. The first show is at 12 p.m. and the second at 1 p.m. Both shows include a light lunch.

Wabnode and Cambrian thank Salon Elite, Moore’s Clothing for Men and Nelia’s Designer Fashions for their support.
