Tiffany Johnson is Cambrian College’s 2014-15 Female Athlete of the Year. She was presented with her award by Cambrian President, Bill Best, and Cambrian Athletics Association President, Courtney Stasiuk.

Hans Agnihotri and Tiffany Johnson were named Cambrian Golden Shield Male and Female Athletes of the Year, walking away with top honours at the 48th Annual Varsity Athletics banquet on Tuesday evening.

A graduating member of the badminton team, Agnihotri teamed up with partner Taylor Cond to capture silver medals at the Mixed Doubles competition at Regionals, followed by a bronze medal performance at the OCAA provincial championships.

Johnson, meanwhile, was easily Cambrian’s most highly-decorated athlete this year, in being named as the OCAA Female Soccer Player of the Year and as a CCAA All-Canadian after capturing the league scoring crown with 16 goals. Teammate T.K. Rocca was second with twelve.

With the Cambrian women’s soccer team enjoying a historic run to their first provincial medal, winning bronze in November, it came as little surprise when Giuseppe Politi was named Coach of the Year.

Other highlights of the evening included the presentation of a framed Cambrian jersey to women’s volleyball head coach Dale Beausoleil, commemorating 25 years of involvement with the well-respected local program.

Mike Margarit (Vern Dow Memorial Bursary), Stacy Carter (Peter Guy Memorial Bursary), Ron Pharano and Chantalle Thomas (John Tymchuk Award) were among the “special award” winners, while women’s soccer defender Ashley Melnek was recognized as the sole recipient of SIRC-CCAA Academic All-Canadian status this year.
