SUDBURY – Families who use food banks in our community will be able to build their child’s book collection thanks to community-wide support of Cambrian College’s Share a Book program.
From January 27 to February 27, more than 4,000 new and gently used children’s books were collected at library branches across Greater Sudbury.
“Families reading together helps children develop language skills, and also helps them form a lifetime relationship with books,” says Early Childhood Education professor Emily Matheson. “We are thrilled with the amazing response to the Share a Book program and thank the community for its support.”
Cambrian College staff and students from the Early Childhood Education program organized the program, with support from Child & Community Resources and the Greater Sudbury Public Library.
On Wednesday, March 25, students from the Early Childhood Education program will be sorting the donated books and preparing them for distribution to food banks throughout the city.
This event will provide excellent story, photo and video opportunities.
