Cambrian College brought home a pile of hardware from the Ontario Technological Skills Competition, which took place May 4-6 in Waterloo. Ten Cambrian students competed and five came back to Sudbury with medals around their necks.
Cambrian College won three gold medals, one silver and one bronze in the following categories:
- Gold: Dominic Savoie for Heavy Equipment; Jawala Birdi for IT Network Systems and Carson Scarr for Automation and Control
- Silver: Jordan Chartier for Heating and Ventilation
- Bronze: Ben Lambert for IT Network Systems
College President Bill Best says these results once again prove Cambrian is a topnotch postsecondary institution.
“I congratulate our students and their faculty coaches for the excellent showing,” he says. “Year after year, Cambrian students earn their place on the medal podium, which speaks volumes about the efforts of our faculty and the quality of students who choose to study at Cambrian.”
More than 1,900 competitors vied for top spots in more than 65 skilled trade and technology areas. Winners of the provincial championships move on to the Skills Canada National Competition, which takes place May 27-30 in Saskatoon.
