SUDBURY - On Tues., September 29, Cambrian College unveiled an ambitious and visionary new strategic plan based on the broadest possible community consultations and collaborations that will chart the College’s direction through 2019.
In it, the College identified a single strategic priority: continuous access to flexible and customizable learning experiences. To achieve this priority, Cambrian will be guided by a new vision, which is captured in three simple, yet motivating words: imagine, inspire, innovate.
"We challenged the Cambrian and Sudbury communities to imagine a 'Cambrian College of the future' - and they delivered," said President Bill Best. "Through our combined energy and actions, our next step will be to bring to life the vision, values and directions of the plan. We have our road map for the next five years; the rest of the journey begins today."
Cambrian College Board Chair Bernie Freelandt commented that "one year ago, Cambrian's Board of Governors was pleased to set in motion an innovative strategic planning process aimed at shaping our purpose and priorities. Today, it is our distinct pleasure to officially launch our new strategic plan and to thank the students, faculty, staff, partners, and many stakeholders whose input was crucial to the success of the process. We can be proud of the fact that their collective voices will have a lasting impact on the future of Cambrian."
In addition to its strategic priority and vision, the College also identified four values that will guide the way that the plan is implemented: innovation (to unlock unlimited possibilities); respect (to enhance every experience for the greater good); excellence (to drive quality through accountability) and collaboration (to maximize the contributions of all). Cambrian also identified three clear goals, which are: to champion innovation; to enrich the student experience; and to expand its influence globally.
College administrators, staff, and faculty are now moving ahead on more than 20 concrete objectives outlined in the plan. Details about the process and the plan are available online at futurecambrian.ca.
