Cambrian College honours six exceptional alumni, one distinguished donor

SUDBURY - On November 5, Cambrian College President Bill Best and members of the Cambrian community celebrated an exceptional group of alumni and a distinguished donor.

The six alumni are Cambrian’s 2015 nominees for the Colleges Ontario Premier’s Awards. This prestigious awards program celebrates the achievements of Ontario college graduates who have made important social and economic contributions to communities throughout the world.

The Premier’s Award nominees and their respective categories are:

  • Brian Bigger – Business
  • Suzanne Corbeil – Technology
  • Nicole Godwin – Recent Graduate
  • Abbas Homayed – Community Services
  • Richard Joly – Health Sciences
  • Scott Savarie – Creative Arts and Design

Each nominee was presented with an Alumni Award of Distinction from Cambrian College. Winners of the 2015 Premier’s Awards will be announced at a gala event on November 16 in Toronto.

The College also presented Christine Tworo with its Distinguished Donor award. A retired Accounting professor and dedicated philanthropist, Tworo established four bursaries for Business students through the Cambrian College Foundation. She also serves on the Program Advisory Committee for Cambrian’s Accounting programs.

“Our 2015-2019 strategic plan sets out to define Cambrian as a college of distinction, united to transform future generations,” said Cambrian College President Bill Best. “By recognizing the amazing contributions made by our alumni and donors, we continue to move forward as a united College community with a strong sense of our past and our future.

“Today, more than 50,000 alumni are part of our growing family, and we are proud that through this event, we can highlight their career successes, their inspirational achievements, and their passion for excellence,” Best explained.
