SUDBURY – For a second consecutive year, Cambrian College graduates have been ranked the “best in Ontario” by their employers, according to a provincial survey released today by Colleges Ontario.

In fact, 100 percent of employers who participated in the annual Key Performance Indicator (KPI) survey responded that they were “satisfied or very satisfied” with their new hires when asked about the performance of 2014-15 Cambrian College graduates.

“We are proud of our graduates for earning this endorsement from employers across all industries,” said Cambrian College President Bill Best. “We’d like to thank all of the employers for hiring our grads, for contributing to the success of our programs, and for partnering to ensure a powerful economic presence as key suppliers of a job-ready work force.”

Best also recognized faculty and staff, who he said, are “tremendously focused on all aspects of career preparation. They teach and mentor students so that they graduate with the right mix of skills, experience and knowledge and are ready to make a positive contribution to global workplaces.”

Every program at Cambrian benefits from valuable input from employers and guidance from industry-experienced faculty who ensure that graduates have the required skills to meet professional expectations.

Sudbury MPP Glenn Thibeault also applauded Cambrian’s success, saying: “When employers express high levels of satisfaction with Cambrian College graduates, it proves that investment in college education provides great value to our economy. Employers both large and small benefit from access to a highly-skilled workforce, and it’s clear that Cambrian graduates are very effective in filling that need. Our government’s first priority is to grow the economy and create jobs, and Cambrian plays a key role in achieving that goal by connecting employers with graduates who are making valuable contributions across all sectors of our economy.”

In the 2014-15 KPI survey, Cambrian College scored above the provincial average in each of the following categories:

  • Employer satisfaction – 100%
  • Graduate satisfaction – 83.1%
  • Providing useful knowledge and skills – 87.2%
  • Overall quality of learning experience – 80.3%
  • Overall quality of services – 65.7%

Cambrian is among the leaders of Ontario Colleges in graduate satisfaction, ranking in the top 8 of 24 community colleges. Full KPI survey results are available on the Colleges Ontario website.
