Two leading local soccer players, Brandon Moxam and Eric Sampson, have committed to play on Cambrian College’s men’s soccer team, bringing extensive experience and energy to the 2016-17 Golden Shield roster.
Moxam is a talented offensive player, and is deployed as a forward or wide midfielder. He has experience playing in the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) regional program under coach Brian Ashton. The St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School graduate also competed in the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) soccer finals, and is now playing in the Greater Sudbury Soccer Club under coaches Nick Mancini and Giuseppe Politi. Moxam has also developed his skills at Toronto-based Winstars Soccer Academy under coach Bobby Graham.
Sampson is extremely effective on defense, whether he’s utilized as a defensive midfielder or defender. The Collège Notre-Dame graduate was captain of his high school squad, competing in the OFSAA soccer finals in May. Sampson has also played in the OSA regional program under Ashton. He’s currently playing on a local men’s team.
Last season, the Golden Shield men’s soccer team performed admirably, reaching the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) semi-finals. Moxam and Sampson will be valuable additions as the team aims to reach the provincial finals again in 2016-17.
