Cambrian College and the Canadian Cancer Society, Sudbury and District Unit, invite you to attend the campaign launch of the seventh annual Teddy Bear Picnic Auction – an event that raises funds for childhood cancer research.
The Canadian Cancer Society is the largest charitable funder of childhood cancer research in Canada. Over the last six years, the Teddy Bear Picnic Auction has raised more than $55,000 for the cause. Students in Cambrian’s Police Foundations are once again playing a key role in fundraising and organizing the event.
This year, nine-year old Karissa Kruk will be part of the campaign launch and the Teddy Bear Picnic Auction, along with her parents, David and Terra. Karissa is in remission after battling a very rare form of leukemia. While she was in the hospital, doctors used a promising new treatment that is still being studied. Karissa’s parents will share their story and explain why further investment in childhood cancer research is so important to families and physicians.
Guests and members of the media are invited to attend the campaign launch and to meet the Kruk family.
